  • Frozen food guidelines:
    If you are feeding frozen food to your fish; drop it in the fish net. This way, foods are not wasted. If you just drop it in water, it ends up everywhere in aquarium as it melts. Yes, I did drop it in water just to demostrate the difference to compare when you drop it in the net.

    Aquarium equipments: Based on my 90gallons tank
    External Cannister EHEIM 2217. Standard filtration media for EHEIM. EHEIM Jager Heater. Hagen FLUVAL Q2 air pump which I dont use since plants makes enough oxygens. Lighting: Hagen GLO T5 HO Double Lighting System, lights FLORA GLO & AQUA GLO; Glo Dual Outlet Timer. DIY CO2 system, fertilizer sticks.

    Setup supplies: 1.5 inch light gravel, various plants, various fish, bogwood, water initially filtered for 2 weeks before adding fish.

    Tips for feeding fish:
    I feed my fish frozen and flaked foods once a day. Quantity that they can finish in less than 2 minutes.

    Tips for aquarium maintenance:
    Dont do too much, dont do too less; otherwise you will hate having an aquarium. Key is to maintain a regular maintenace schedule, keep it consistent. Dont do like – no time to change water today, next week I will change double amount of water. Fish and plants both dont prefer too much temp/water cond. fluctuation.
    I change min 20% – max 30% water every 6th-7th day (weekend). Brush aquarium walls every 3rd week, rinse filter media every two months (rinse with aquarium water). Dose water conditioner whenever I change water only. (See dosing instruction on the bottle) Dose Cycle once a month. Dose waste control: none – why if I clean every week.

    Tips for live plants:
    Lights timer on from 5PM to 12AM. Aquarium also gets indirect sunlights during the day. Algae? Not much, I have cleaning army of 3 plecos, 5 otocinclus and few snails. Too much snail is not good, but having few helps a lot.
    I dose potassium and iron once a week after changing water, one plant fertilizer stick per two bushes, good for year. I use DIY CO2 1bps. Trim when necessary.
    I dont disconnect CO2 when lights off. I know I should but … sb a hobby, not full time job.
